Help For PosiGen Customers

PosiGen leased solar systems to homeowners in several states before it stopped most of its operations in August 2025. Its systems now belong to other companies. If you have a PosiGen lease or power purchase agreement, this page sums up what published reports and the transition site say.

What Happened

The pv magazine USA report of August 26, 2025 says PosiGen announced it would cease most of its operations effective immediately, citing "significant financial difficulties" in a WARN Act termination notice. It says the business served customers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Mississippi, and also offered battery storage and energy efficiency services. According to the notice it describes, PosiGen missed an interest payment on its credit facility, and its lender then froze cash and issued a notice of default.

The Solar Power World report of February 24, 2026 says Renewbrook Energy, a newly formed subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management, acquired most of PosiGen's residential project portfolio after PosiGen's bankruptcy in late 2025, and that SunStrong Management acquired the rest. It says Brookfield had lent PosiGen $600 million since 2023, that Renewbrook is contracting Omnidian to maintain and monitor the former PosiGen projects, and that Renewbrook would contact former customers about the changeover.

What The Transition Site Says

The PosiGenSupport.com transition page (as we read it in October 2026) says Renewbrook acquired the majority of PosiGen's systems and that service and support for Renewbrook's systems moved to Omnidian. It tells customers to continue paying their bill as usual and says a welcome email with next steps will come directly. It also says Omnidian is not connected to PosiGen and does not own your system, and that phone lines were reserved for emergency and critical system issues while support teams scaled up.

Steps That Help

  1. Find the current owner. The name on your most recent bill or bank draft is usually the company that now holds your agreement.
  2. Report problems in writing. Send your address, the date the problem started, photos, and production screenshots. Keep a log of every call.
  3. Read your agreement for what it says about repairs, response times, and any production promise.
  4. Read the default terms before withholding any payment. Get legal advice first.
  5. Do not hire your own repair company without written approval from the system owner. You do not own the equipment. See Solar Lease Or PPA When The Company Is Gone.
  6. If nobody responds, the U.S. Treasury consumer advisory on solar leases points consumers to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for financial products and to state consumer protection offices. See Solar Owner Help In Massachusetts and Solar Owner Help In New Jersey.
Be careful with anyone who calls or knocks unprompted claiming to be your solar company, or offering to take over your contract for a fee. Verify through the numbers on your own paperwork, your lender, or the company named in an official notice.
