Help For Lumio Solar Customers
If Lumio installed your solar, you may have heard that the company went bankrupt. Unlike some installers that simply shut down, Lumio's assets were sold to another solar company. Here is what published reports say and what to do if your system needs attention.
What Happened
The pv magazine USA report of September 4, 2024 says Lumio filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and planned to keep operating during a court supervised sale, which it expected to finish in less than two months. Before filing, Lumio had agreed to an opening offer from an affiliate of White Oak Global Advisors, its main secured lender, of about $100 million in the form of a credit bid.
The Solar Power World report of November 7, 2024 says Florida based Zeo Energy completed the acquisition of all of the assets of Lumio Holdings. It gives the dates: Lumio filed on September 3, 2024, and the court approved the sale on November 1, 2024. In the announcement, Zeo's chief executive said the company looked forward to completing installations under agreements Lumio had entered into for its customers and financing partners.
What We Could Not Confirm
The reports we read do not say whether Zeo took on Lumio's workmanship warranties for systems already installed, or who answers service calls for older Lumio systems. Comments under the Solar Power World article include Lumio owners asking that same question. Ask in writing and keep the answer.
Who To Contact
| Your Situation | Start Here |
|---|---|
| Install was never finished | Contact Zeo Energy in writing, since its announcement mentions completing installs under Lumio agreements. Copy your lender. |
| Installed system with an equipment problem | The panel or inverter manufacturer, with serial numbers |
| Roof leak at the array | Ask Zeo in writing whether it honors Lumio workmanship coverage, and see Roof Leak Around Solar Panels |
| Loan payments | Your lender. The bankruptcy does not usually end the loan. |
Steps That Help
- Write down your paperwork trail. Contract date, lender name, equipment brands, and any warranty documents. Note which company name appears on each.
- Send one written request. Ask the buyer whether your workmanship warranty transferred and who to call for service. Email creates a record that a phone call does not.
- Contact the equipment makers. Their warranties do not depend on the installer, per EnergySage guide to installer bankruptcy (updated January 7, 2026).
- Check production. If the system produced nothing from the start, gather your utility bills and monitoring screenshots. See Solar System Not Producing.
- Hire carefully. If you own the system, any licensed solar company that services your brand can help. Confirm the license with your state agency first.
